(this was when the pentium 2 was state of the art) The machine had a 420MB hard drive with windows 95 on it. I salvaged the machine when i was in my teens, back in the late 90s. (my motherboard actually had ONBOARD video - paradise VGA with 768kb RAM, but i only had a mono monitor, was too broke to afford a VGA monitor.) Also some really old hardware to run it on.īelieve it or not, the first machine I had was a 486SX 20MHz with 8MB RAM and a cheap knockoff hercules mono display adapter. I have disk images for pretty much every windows version ever made. The entirety of all the memory you had on your 486monster machine, probably fits side a modern processors cache now. And it's only that high because it wasn't worth it's time to fully wake up from some power miser state. 00001% of one of your current machines processor core. Because it's great that even the most badass machine you lusted for when you were a kid, is probably like. crazy Aussie takes PCEmulator-JS (which is already nuts) and "hacks" and lashes together a.
lolz gezuz SkyNet is going to self assemble and be sentient in javascript, isn't it?) Remember, all of your retro memories can now be run in javascript (also. Get off my lawn! I don't got enough pixels to cover yer muddy holes boy! pĮDIT ADD: Because.
Yes everyone, 3.1 was the first where this crazy witchcraft of a. No windows 3.1/3.11 liquifies our minds with. people don't realize that right after 3.0 blew our minds with. (retro homework for you youngins!) cause 3.0 was the introduction of the "new" 3.x style and was stupid amazing to us cave dwellers back in the day. And everyone younger who started on 3.1 and 3.11 I think assume that 3.0 looked the same. Nobody remembers win3.0 unless they used it.

really for my full nostalgia I need to get the windows 3.0 disks. Which okay I guess I should get off my ass and spin up that windows 3.11VM. I have some of the old Windows Entertainment Packs (no Chip's Challenge though, but IDLEWILD and FISH3) but also the default games like REVERSI from windows 2.1. Wow, it's that old? I also know that pain too.

Yep, it is the sheep in the XP video - it works ok on 32bit OS, but 64 bit refuses to run it (its a 16bit app) You're a horrible person snowcone, and you'll never know why OH GAWD, MY CHILDHOOD IN JAVASCRIPT (head asplode) squirrel? No a cat? For some reason I remember Garfield like triangle stripes on the back.Įxcept as I find what it is, there are no triangles. I remember having some program as a youngin that it'd run a thousand copies of so there was a heard of things following the cursor (which isn't xRoach style, so not your sheep). "Yea, maybe like xRoach with sheep, but on windows not X windows so what was that on windows, did I have that?"
but it's one of those wells where you discover some little thing you remember, was apparently way bigger than you ever knew.Īnyway! go looking online, because what you say seems so familiar. now the part where Dude, you inadvertently sent me down a nostalgia well. I just searched for xSheep (cause, the old X Windows xRoach had roaches run around under/swarm from closed windows) as a guess. Or kill an XP VM first.Īgain, I apologize for linking this.

ugh sorry the only link is a youtube vid, with overloud music that's hilariously WTF DRAMATIC SHEEP but they do have a download link. Would really love to see a version of that application ported to modern versions of windows.įirst, I don't know if this maybe is it? Also. They would climb onto and fall off of the windows as you dragged them around. There was an old toy called "sheep" that had these little animated sheep crawling around on your desktop.
